Anxiously Awaiting Spring – by Jenn Stumer, Appalachian Creations, Inc.
Today is March 11th and the temperature is expected to rise above 60 degrees for the first time in weeks. We’re so excited because in our yard, there are still large areas of snow – some of them over a foot deep. With the change in temperature, the piles shrink a little more every day and with the spring solstice just over a week away, there’s a good chance it just might disappear in time.
Welcome to the Appalachian Creations Blog. Over the winter months (when we typically have a little bit of downtime), we had our website re-created and updated. This blog is one of the new things we wanted to include on the new site. Social media seems to be the more popular way of communicating and passing on information. Since we already have a Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/appalachiancreations, adding this blog was the next logical step. Through this blog, we’re hoping to share landscaping projects, tips on property maintenance and anything flower, plant or outdoor-related that happens to be relevant to the current season.
So hang in there. We are all anxiously waiting for the snow to disappear. It has been covering the ground for so long now it seems like it can’t melt fast enough. When it does we know we are going to see those first tell-tale signs of spring bulbs poking through the ground. Then we will be off and running into yet another spring season!
Since this is my first blog EVER, I thought I would keep it short and sweet. Enjoy!
Snow surrounding our pond. Notice the spring flag? Contrasts nicely with the bare background.
